Six ways to empty a chair
Every manufactured consensus uses at least two of these. The pattern is that reliable.
Excluded
They were never invited to the table. The conversation happened without them, about them.
Climate negotiations without the nations most affected — the 'global agreement' excluded those paying the highest cost.
Drowned Out
They spoke but were overwhelmed by amplified voices. Their words existed; nobody heard them.
Corporate PR flooding local opposition — the 'community voice' was technically present but inaudible.
Pre-empted
They never knew the conversation was happening. Decisions were made before they arrived.
Zoning decisions announced after permits are filed — the 'public process' began after the outcome was chosen.
Discredited
They were dismissed before they could speak. Their credibility was removed in advance.
Industry-funded studies declaring opponents 'unqualified' — the 'expert consensus' required preemptively ruling out certain experts.
Unimaginable
The system can't conceive of including them. Their absence isn't noticed because they were never counted.
